We are a Catholic Organization dedicated to serving the needs of the developmentally challenged for the past 50 years. The Caravan is open to all Catholics over the age of 18 years.
We are registered with Revenue Canada as a Charitable Corporation and, therefore, can give Income Tax receipts for donations.
History of the Order
The International Order of Alhambra was founded in Brooklyn, NY in 1904.
Algarva Caravan #168, one of 67 caravans across North America, was chartered on January 27, 1967 and has 62 members. 2017 will be a year of celebration for us, our 50th year servicing the intellectually challenged.
In 2011 the Order voted to admit women as full members. Therefore membership is open to all Catholics.
Lambton County Developmental Services, Petrolia, Ontario wishes to thank Algarva Caravan for their $50,000 contribution towards the Alhambra Centre in Forest, Ontario, as day facility that serves over 100 developmentally challenged people.
Pathways, Sarnia, Ontario appreciates the $5,000 grant made to us by Algarva Caravan for our capital building program.
The Grand Bend Public School expresses its thanks to the Caravan for donating $10,000 to create a Snoozelen Room for autistic children.

Goodwill industries in Sarnia thanks Algarva Caravan for the two rag cutting machines valued at $3,220 each.
Two handicapped racing teams thank Algarva Caravan for their support of our programs. Last year Algarva donated a combined total of $7,000.
